THE RECLAIMED MEN PRINCIPLE

START HIGH. EARN

THE ADJUSTMENT.

A calculator gives you an estimate, not your exact metabolism. Men in fat-loss mode don’t chase a perfect number. They start with a reasonable one, measure what happens and adjust from evidence.

01

ESTIMATE

Get your number above.

02

START HIGH

Smallest deficit that works.

03

MEASURE

Track intake and the weight trend.

04

ADJUST

Change one lever at a time.

01 What is TDEE?

TDEE stands for Total Daily Energy Expenditure: an estimate of how many calories your body burns in a day through basic body functions, daily movement, work, exercise and everything else you do. Think of it as your estimated maintenance calories.

EAT ABOVE IT

You tend to gain weight.

EAT AROUND IT

Your weight stays relatively stable.

EAT BELOW IT

You tend to lose weight.

02 HOW THIS CALCULATOR WORKS

It uses your age, height, weight and sex to estimate your resting energy needs with the Mifflin-St Jeor equation, then multiplies by your activity level.

You get two numbers: your estimated maintenance, and a Reclaimed Men starting target that’s deliberately conservative instead of an aggressive cut.

03 HOW MANY CALORIES TO LOSE FAT?

Fat loss requires a calorie deficit: over time you consume less energy than your body uses. That’s the mechanism behind every successful fat-loss approach, whatever it’s called.

THE QUESTION ISN’T WHETHER YOU NEED A DEFICIT. IT’S HOW BIG.

And how you keep it while protecting muscle and living a normal life.

04 WHY START HIGH?

Because a bigger deficit isn’t automatically better. Starting with a smaller reduction gives you more food, makes the plan easier to follow, supports your training and leaves room to adjust when progress slows.

CALORIES = LEVER

WALKING = LEVER

TRAINING = LEVER

Calories, walking and training are all levers. You don’t need to pull every one on day one.

05 CHOOSING YOUR ACTIVITY LEVEL

Pick based on your whole day, not just your workouts. A desk job with three hard gym sessions is often still lightly active. A man who’s on his feet doing physical work all day may be active even without formal training.

WHEN IN DOUBT, CHOOSE THE LOWER OPTION.

It’s easier to add food than to explain a stall.

06 YOUR NUMBER IS A STARTING POINT

No calculator, formula or app can tell you exactly how many calories you burn. It gets you close enough to start.

Your tracked intake and weight trend over the next two to three weeks tell you whether the estimate was right. Learning to read that feedback is the skill the Reclaimed Men program teaches.
